    Hi

All my kids (singers and non singers) are loving the pop medley for 2009 – and want me to download the full songs on Itunes. But being a bit backward at any music post dated 1989 I havent got a clue what they are! I cant find any acknowledgements on your site – can you let me know the titles and artists that the excerpts come from please?!?!?

    many thanks

Debbie (mum to Hannah at Huddersfeld Young Singers)

    E-mail from Caitlin:

I am from heap bridge village primary school and i am entering yv this year i dont know a lot about yv so i want to know what songs you have sang in the past years. i would also like to know how many years yv has been running.

    Hi Caitlin,
This will be the 13th year that YV has been staged and over the years we’ve sung lots and lots of songs.
YV is all about giving people the chance to sing music from different styles like rock, pop and classical whilst also being a part of a massive choir.
I hope you are enjoying all the songs.
    Good Luck.
    Ben

I am from old hall primary school and I’m doing the young voices 2009 at my school. My teacher said that we had to learn the words on by heart. But when i practice i don’t really know the tune. So please can you send me all the tracks from youtube, please!!:-) Or on the day i’ll go out of tune and will be embaressed!!:-<

  5. Ben said:

Learn the words first like your teacher said, then you don’t have to worry about remembering them when you rehearse and over the next few weeks you will become more familiar with the tune. We will also have a full rehearsal on the day so you will be fine, so no need for being embarrassed!
    Keep practising!

Are we meant to be learning any moves for Urban Strides or will we learn them on the day? Cant find any link on the site like last year.

  9. Ben said:

    Hi Christine,
The artists have now been chosen.
As well as V V Brown and All Angels the choirs will also be joined by:
Denniz Ellington- an immensely talented gospel singer who will be leading Oh Happy Day and Ain’t No Mountain.
Urban Strides- I’m sure you know from years past how amazing this street dance team is.
James Orrell- a very gifted choirboy who will be leading the choir for selected songs
    Hope that helps.
    Ben

Can you please tell me the age range of children allowed to take part. My daughter took part last night at the O2 in london (2nd December) and is in her last year at jumior school and was wondering if secondary school children, say in year 7 would be allowed to take part next year. She had such fun I think she is sad that it may be her first and last experience of the concert! Thank you.
